Birth*1758 Archibald Odom Sr. was born in 1758 at Scotland according to his tombstone; I am of the opinion that there are two Archibalds here. Father born about 1740 who fought in Revolutionary war and Son Archibald who also fought in Revolution and later settled and was buried in Pulaski County, Georgia. A letter in the pension file written in 1927 from Cordelia Reeder of Poteau, Oklahoma says that she believes that both Archibalds were in the Revolution.1 
MARRIAGE*5 May 1778 He married Penelope Harris on 5 May 1778.1,2 
MARRIAGE21 February 1826  On 21 February 1826 I am starting to suspect that Elizabeth, wife #2, got the idea to file for the pension near the end of Archibald's life. From the pension file we learn that Archibald had never been in need of the money therefore didn't file for it. By the time he did file he (or wife) was a bit cloudy on the memory and he may have even mixed up his service with stories he heard of his father's service.1,2

His grave is located on what was called "the old Sapp Cemetery" near the river just east of Hawkinsville. The stone was photographed in 2002 by Becky Nagle and reads:
"Sacred to the memory of Maj. Archibald Odom, Soldier of the Revolution and Minister of the Gospel, who died April 1, 1815 age 87 years. Patriotic Christian and Mason. Others buried near him are:

Living*1776 He was living in 1776 at Sumpter, SC.2 
DEED*1792 He proved a deed in 1792 at SC; Archibald proved a deed between Thomas Snead and Leavy Harrell.3 
DEED1797  In 1797 at SC Levi Harrell paid A.O money for the deed of 1792.3 
DEED1798  In 1798 at SC As Judge of the Court he proved a deed of Jacob Harrell.3 
DEED1798 He sold land in 1798 at Georgetown Dist, SC, Archibald Odom sold to Benjamin Rawls land which is part of that belonging to Jacob Harrell surveyed in 1768 and granted to him in 1770 in Ashpole Swamp. The deed was signed by Archibald, Penelepy and James Odom.3 
DEED1798  In 1798 at Liberty, SC, Joseph Oars is paid by A.O 50 pounds for land at Ashpole Swamp which is part of that Jacob Harrell survey in 1768 granted in 1770.3 
COURT*27 October 1813  On 27 October 1813 at GA He served a four year term as a Justice of the Inferior Court.4 
SLAVE OWNE*1818 He was slave owners He is shown with eleven slaves on the tax record. He paid four dollars tax in 1818 at GA.4 
CENSUS1820*1820 He appeared on the census in 1820 at GA; He is living as head of household very close to a Moses Odom. I do not know where Moses fits in.5 
BOUNTYLAND*1827 He was granted bounty land in 1827 at Pulaski County, GA., According to Ruth Blair "Georgia Roster of Revolution" He is listed as R.S.and received bounty land in Pulaski County Georgia. Another source says he was given land lot # 69 in the 33rd dist of Lee County.
He is shown on page 1039 of Pulaski Hist. as being on the certified list of 1827 for Pulaski County. 
CENSUS1830*1830 He appeared on the census in 1830 at GA.6 
CENSUS1840*1840 He appeared on the census in 1840 at GA; Line 8: A. Odom 1 free white male 80-90 years 1 free white female 10-15 1 free white female 40-50 0 slaves
Evidently he lived 4 door away from J.C. Donaldson and five from J. M. Odom.7 
PENSION*2 July 1853 Widow who was second wife received a pension It appears that his widow decided to apply for a pension eight years after his death. The widow had only been married to Archibald since 1826. She married him long after his Revolutionary War service.
The pension was denied.
Dear Ms. Woodrough, Archibald Odom (1758-1845) is my gggg grandfather and a genealogist friend got a copy of his discharge paper from the regiment of Francis Marion in SC. It also says on it "deserted!" May be why pension was denied? He's buried outside of Hawkinsville, GA (Pulaski Co.) on HWY 230 with 3 other graves nearby in the middle of the woods. What did you learn in Washington?

MARRIAGE*5 May 1804 He married Elizabeth Oden on 5 May 1804 at Richmond, GA., Richmond Georgia is wher Augusta is located and seems to have been a crossing point for settlers entering Georgia from the Carolinas. 
Death*before 1830 He died before 1830 An Elizabeth is shown as head of household in 1830 and living as widow in 1850 with Hobbs family. I take this to mean that he died before the 1830.

I'm guessing that your Sara might be related to the Archibald ODOM family of Pulaski Co., GA. They had a daughter named Sarah b. 17 SEP 1786 and a granddaughter Sarah ODOM b. 1 JAN 1818. My information is that the earlier Sarah married Eddie HODGE but it could just as easily been the younger Sarah who married Eddie HODGE.
I have a copy of an interesting manuscript which includes the following:
"James ODOM, the eldest son of Archibal and Penolpy HARRIS ODOM, was born Feb. 15th 1779 and at the age of about 21 or 22 years, he went back to North Carolina to visit...relations. While there he met a Miss Elisebeth ODEN of South Carolina. They married and settled down in Pulaski Co. (Georgia) only a few miles away from his parents. To this union was born three sons and seven daughters"....Sophy March Geen ODOM b. 1804; Dougla Wilkins ODOM b. 24 AUG 1806;Elisbath ODOM b. 28 NOV 1808; James Madison ODOM b. 10 MAY 1811; Susanah ODOM b. 15 OCT 1813; Harriet ODOM b. 20 MAR 1816; Sarah ODOM b. 2 JAN 1818; Achabal H. and Penelopy H. Note*2002  Note from Becky Nagle. I have figured out Susan Odom's ancestry (wife of Joseph C. Donaldson)...I don't know if she is buried beside him or not - in one of the unmarked graves. Actually, I found another descendent of Joseph C. (who saw a posting I had made) and actually putting our clues together created synergy and we "cracked" the Odom line. I have not "documented" everything with my own efforts, but I feel real good about the information I'm sending you. Susie/Susan's given name was Susannah and matching all of the names was what was needed! One of the Odom boys married a Holland girl, so these families were really intertwined!
